Cakesplosion is a one-woman operation of cake awesomeness, on a mission to make kitschy baked goods that taste as good as they look.
Hi, my name is Sara and I make tiny treats, often on sticks. I’ve been baking for fun for as long as I can remember. My creative flair combined with a serious sweet tooth recently led me to cake pops. My five-year-old and I had so much fun making that first batch. I took them to work and everyone raved about how good they were, and when they were gone, begged me to make more. After years of people suggesting that I should bake as a business and not just a hobby, I’ve finally listened!
I have a day job in a fairly creative field, but there is a serious lack of cake happening there. I love coming home and firing up my mixer. Most of my items involve the same basic recipes with the addition of a flavoring oil or dry mix-in, such as Oreo crumbs or bacon (just not in the same batch. Oreo/bacon cupcakes, that would be gross. Or would it the best flavor ever? Hmmm…) I have a handful of amazing recipes from my grandmother and great grandmother — some that I’ve put modern twists on, and some that I leave as-is.
I firmly believe that it’s possible to make baked goods that look AND taste amazing. There’s nothing more disappointing than cutting into a gorgeous cupcake to find that it is dry and bland. I like to think of everything I bake as an extension of myself, which is why many of these items are so full of personality
